RECENT events such as the proposed sale of County Hall, the lack of an undertaking to fulfil the Northwich Vision scheme and the plans for Cheshire’s waste treatment, are all disturbing examples of how disconnected from the electorate the CWAC administration and it’s ruling group of Conservative councillors are.

They have been elected to serve the people of Cheshire West and Chester, instead they behave undemocratically, evidence the handling of the special council meeting to debate the sale of County Hall.

The new administration does need adequate facilities, but not all options have been considered and the proposals put forward do not serve our best interest.

CWAC’s desire to bury the plans to regenerate Northwich Town centre, and the future plans for handling and treating waste across Cheshire, and siting new facilities in Crewe, Ellesmere Port and Lostock, display both a lack of transparency and consultation.

This administration and it’s ruling representatives do not listen enough to people’s views, are not open about their intentions and show a disregard for keeping everyone properly informed.

That this is happening so early in this administration’s life is frightening.

Let us hope that a fairer, more representative group of councillors will be returned in 2011.
