ON February 25, 2009 I read an article in the Guardian with the headline ‘Incinerator Plan is axed’ and the first line read ‘there will be no incinerator in Northwich.’ Waste Recycling Group , which had proposed to build an incinerator in Lostock, was no longer in the running for Cheshire’s 25-year waste contract.
County Clr Greta Cousins, finance executive member said, “we have taken a major step in helping to protect Cheshire’s quality of life for future generations”.
So why is the council even considering the RRS plant at Wincham? I suggest that Greta Cousin’s comments will no longer apply should RRS be allowed to build their ‘incinerator’.
I would like to know, should the RRS plans be approved, who was responsible for taking a major step in NOT protecting Cheshire’s quality of life for future generations and what gave them the right to do so?
