SOMETIMES things happen that take us unawares.
On the afternoon of October 1, I experienced such a moment when I crashed my bike and sailed over the handlebars landing in a heap, winded, battered, bruised and rolling in agony on the pavement near the Davenham roundabout, London Road.
Two motorists stopped and hurried over, followed by a young woman from across the road. She was still wearing her yellow rubber gloves as she ran to the scene of the accident clutching her mobile ready to ring for an ambulance.
I am OK and no bones were broken but I would like to say publicly thank you very much to those three good Samaritans who took the time and trouble to help a stranger in need. Your kindness and thoughtfulness meant a great deal to me and I am truly grateful.
