I REFER to your correspondent Wake up to HS2 Bell and his complaint about the lack of debate on this scandalous project which will cost so much money and cause so much distress to so many people.

His comments on this massive EU vanity project are 100 per cent correct.

No ordinary person asked for HS2 or the huge destruction of the English countryside which goes with it. It’s disheartening to acknowledge that he is right in so many ways.

The Tories, Lib Dems and the Labour Party are hiding behind the EU orders to support this waste of money. 

UKIP is the only major political party opposed to this wild and reckless scheme.

UKIP was instrumental in the initial establishment of the local action group Mid Cheshire Against HS2.

UKIP has actively supported the campaign of One Voice Against HS2 in Cheshire.

UKIP’s campaigning in constituencies where HS2 will have a major impact has resulted in MPs complaining to the Prime Minister about the threat to their jobs.

UKIP is dismayed that local Cheshire West and Chester councillors have been so keen to endorse the annihilation of our beautiful countryside.

These professional politicians, who have been in power for decades, should be aware that UKIP will be campaigning hard in the May 2015 local elections to remove them, and ensure that Cheshire will be protected against the immense damage HS2 will wreak on our county.
