AFTER discussion with fellow swimmers at Moss Farm leisure centre, it seems most will be sorry if the pool there is closed down as planned next spring.
Northwich is ever expanding.
With all the new and proposed government-facilitated housing development, the length of Winnington Avenue, I believe the town could easily support both the new Memorial Court Lifestyle Centre and the community-based Moss Farm leisure centre.
The new, but six-lanes-only pool at the leisure complex in the town centre will be wonderful for some, especially those living on the other side of town.
There is, however, something to be said for keeping a well-supported, existing facility outside the town centre.
I have heard some older people say when/if Moss Farm closes, it will be the end of their swimming days.
That is not good to hear. We need to keep the “ever-increasing” older generation healthy and out of the doctor’s surgery!
How about a trial period of running both?
