I AM writing regarding the Guardian online publication of the Winsford Neighbourhood Plan last week.
A Winsford Labour councillor asked when did the ‘Winsford Liberal Democrats change their mind about the neighbourhood plan?’
The Liberal Democrats have not changed their mind.
We have said from the outset we are in favour of the plan in principle, a fact the Winsford Town Council clerk Alan Warburton will confirm, since I made our position clear to him over a year ago at the public meeting to discuss the plan.
The Liberal Democrats are, however, against some of the details in this plan.
We are against building hundreds of houses around the Winsford Flashes and on the conservation area adjoining St Chad’s Church.
This was made perfectly clear by me, at the first public meeting of concerned residents in the council chamber at Wyvern House when this Labour councillor was present.
Perhaps the councillor has forgotten he was at the meeting.
I have subsequently made our unchanged position clear in numerous Lib Dem leaflets distributed across Winsford in the past 12 months.
Perhaps the councillor has also forgotten that every Labour councillor on Winsford Town Council voted to build houses around the Flashes and on the conservation area.
I can assure him that the residents of the Swanlow and Dene ward have not forgotten.
