THE police are as usual advising us to take care when driving on local roads at this time of year.
However, as a regular walker along the footpaths on either side of the A556 between Davenham roundabout and Hartford Bridge, I regularly see motorcyclists and drivers exceeding the statutory speed limits.
This is despite large signs showing the speed limits and the number of fatalities that occur on this stretch of dual carriageway.
I think it is due time that speed cameras are erected here.
They are needed just as they are on the stretch eastwards between Davenham roundabout and Rudheath.
Having been a driver for more than 50 years now, I have a pretty good idea what speeds people are driving at.
