WITTON Albion manager Ben Harrison is promising change.
Not for the first time this season, he cut a frustrated figure as he spoke about what went wrong in his side’s 4-0 defeat at Avro on Saturday.
They are due to play in Northern Premier League West again at Hanley Town tomorrow.
“It wasn’t a performance I can accept and I’m not just putting the players in that – I’ve got to look at myself and what I did. Did we do the right things? Maybe not,” said Harrison.
“It’s not a time to blame anyone or individuals. It was all of us, every single person in the changing room who went to the game has not done enough. It’s as simple as that.
“I’ve defended us the last few weeks because we have been playing well but we’ve not had the rub of the green or not taken our chances and conceded silly goals.
“We could all see something but we couldn’t see it in that performance.
“I don’t want to be extreme, but we’re lucky it wasn’t eight or nine.
“Ellis (keeper Ellis Allen) made a few great saves, every time they went forward they looked a threat.
“It hurts me. I’m just as at fault for all that as anyone so I’ll take the blame.
“Changes are going to have to be made and I don’t want to be the change that has to be made, so unfortunately we’ll have to make some changes ahead of Tuesday.”
He felt his team started brightly enough in the opening 10 minutes but conceding the first goal proved to be a catalyst.
“It was our free-kick and they ended up scoring,” said Harrison.
“We shouldn’t then go as flat as that, fall apart as we did and show no fight, show no character, show no passion. I could go on and on. We didn’t control the game, we didn’t move the ball.
“It’s a tough one to take. I don’t like losing anything, and this one’s hard. I can’t find any positives in that.
“But we won’t give up. There’ll be some reflection and then decisions that need to be made.
“Unfortunately we do still have quite a few out injured. That’s not excuses, that’s just looking forward with us not having the options that we would like to have.
“We don’t have much time until Tuesday but we won’t put that performance in again on Tuesday – I can promise that!”
