WITTON Albion believe results will turn in their favour.

That is the view after Ben Harrison’s side fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to Trafford in Northern Premier League West on Tuesday night.

A loss which took Trafford up to fourth in the table and left Albion 14th, was a fourth game without a win for Albion.

Witton appeared to have turned a corner with their three victories in a row last month but finding the target has been an issue since as was the case at the U Lock It Stadium on Tuesday when Jordan Fagbola’s scrambled effort from a corner in the 56th minute was enough to secure a backs-to-the-wall three points for the visitors.

Home keeper Ellis Allen saved Rio Clegg’s penalty in the first half after a foul in the box on Matty Lusakueno.

“It’s a difficult one to take again,” said Jim Lawrie, who is a part of Harrison’s coaching team.

“To be fair to the lads, they gave their all in terms of what they were asked to do.

“It sounds a bit mad, but we’re pleased with how they played, how they’ve gone about their play and the chances they’ve created.

“It just seems at the minute we’re not getting the rub of the green in terms of finishing and we’ve spoken about that for a few weeks now.

“If performances continue like Tuesday, nine times out of 10 we’ll get a positive result.

“Hopefully it will turn and we fully believe that.

“Overall as a game we dominated it. Credit to Trafford, they did a job and got the three points.

“On Saturday we go to Avro, which is a tough and cold place to go at this time of year on the artificial surface, but we’ll go there trying to get the three points and trying to start a run going because that’s what our performances deserve. Confidence is still there.”

Winsford United’s 15-match unbeaten run ended on Tuesday night when they bowed out of the Edward Case Challenge Cup 2-0 at home to Abbey Hulton United.

Blues well below par and will look to get back on track away to Foley Meir in North West Counties League Division One South on Saturday, kick-off 3pm, before hosting Glossop North End in the Macron Cup second round on Tuesday, 7.45pm.

This week’s FA Vase third-round draw has paired Winsford United at home with Birmingham side Sutton United on Saturday, December 7.

Barton also went out of the Edward Case Challenge Cup on Tuesday night, losing 2-1 at Ashville.

They conceded twice in three minutes in the first half and Joseph Levey’s 61st minute penalty success proved not to be enough to rescue them.

Barnton visit Stockport Georgians in NWCFL Division One South on Saturday, 3pm.

1874 Northwich, who were not in action in midweek, head to Highgate in the Midland League Premier Division on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
