WITTON Albion boss Ben Harrison cut a frustrated figure after his side’s 1-0 loss at Mossley on Saturday.

Mason Fawns netted the winner with a 62nd-minute free kick, leaving Albion’s run without a win at five games while their last league success was a 4-0 slaying of Runcorn Linnets on August 26.

Although Witton have played some good football at times recently without achieving the results they deserved, Harrison felt it was a different story this time.

“It was very disappointing,” said Harrison, in what was his second game since taking permanent charge of a side he had initially taken over 11 days before the season started.

“There were so many players ‘off it’.

“It’s the worst I’ve felt, because I don’t think we played well.

“We had a bit of a go in the second half but didn’t create anything. The quality was poor.

“We were done by a free kick and Ellis Allen made a couple of great saves.

“It was a humbling on Saturday, but we will go again.”

Harrison said he and his staff will review and reassess how to move forward.

He added: “We can’t keep missing chances and the quality has to be better.

“I’m not in the dressing room to play good football and lose matches, never have been.”

Witton, who are fourth from bottom in Northern Premier League West host Runcorn Linnets in the Cheshire Senior Cup first round tomorrow, Tuesday, and then host Congleton Town on Saturday.
