WITTON Albion could have a new face and familiar returning one in the matchday squad on Saturday.
Albion will be back in action at Leek, kick-off 3pm, after a fortnight’s break from matches, having been strengthened by the arrival of 19-year-old midfielder Brandon Newell and 27-year-old striker Elliot Rokka, who left the club at the beginning of October but is now on board again.
Newell started this season with Stalybridge, after previously playing for Abbey Hulton and then with Macclesfield and Wythenshawe Town on dual registration.
If Rokka gets the nod from Jon Macken at Leek it will be his 50th appearance for Albion, with 11 of them having come earlier this season.
Witton, who will also be in Northern Premier League West action at home to Nantwich on Tuesday, kick-off 7.45pm, will face the same opposition away from home in the second round of the Cheshire Senior Cup on Tuesday, December 5.
Meanwhile Northwich Victoria, who have confirmed the departure of midfielder Caelen Kilheeney to Droylsden, are scheduled to host Darlaston Town in the Midland League Premier Division on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
The clash will take place at Winsford United’s Barton Stadium, which appears to be Vics’ new home earlier then planned with their other two remaining home games in 2023 also slated for Winsford rather than the U Lock It Stadium in Wincham.
Vics’ groundshare agreement with Witton had been in place until the end of this season, when the Trickies were due to move to the Barton Stadium, but as of yet no official announcement has been made to confirm that deal has ended early.
If Vics’ clash with Darlaston goes ahead, it would improve a sequence of only one of their last five games taking place because of the impact of wet weather causing postponements.
The Barton Stadium pitch was waterlogged in midweek when the Winsford United clash with New Mills had to be postponed.
Blues have no games this coming week, but fellow North West Counties League Division One South Winsford side Barnton will visit Abbey Hey on Saturday, 3pm, and then host Stockport Town next Wednesday, 7.45pm.
