SKELMERSDALE United got their play-offs push back on course by beating promotion rivals AFC Fylde on Saturday, writes Tom Snee.

Karl O’Donnell’s double helped Tommy Lawson’s men into a 3-0 lead before Matt Walwyn’s late brace set up a close finish.

Elsewhere top five foes Curzon Ashton were shut out by Radcliffe Borough, while Steve Foster scored on his debut for Chorley in a 3-1 win at Mossley.

Garry Flitcroft’s men climb to second spot as a reward, but the teams occupying the play-offs positions are separated by just two points.

Leaders Chester drew a blank for the first time this season at home to improving Witton Albion, who have now tied eight of their past dozen encounters.

Elsewhere Warrington Town’s play-offs hopes were hit after they had to come from behind twice to earn a draw at home to Garforth Town, while Bamber Bridge remain in the reckoning after a comfortable win at Trafford.

There were successes too for Durham City and Lancaster City at the expense of Salford City and Cammell Laird, while Woodley Sports were held at home by fellow midtable outfit Wakefield.

At the bottom, Harrogate Railway Athletic improved their chances of avoiding relegation after beating fellow strugglers Leigh Genesis.

Ossett Albion picked up a point too at home to Clitheroe.
