MICHAEL Wilde is on course to smash goalscoring records as he scored another hat-trick for high-fliers Chester on Saturday, writes Tom Snee.
The league leaders’ top scorer accounted for all five of the hosts’ goals in their demolition of play-offs hopefuls Clitheroe.
Chorley kept pace with the table-toppers after cruising to a 4-0 win at Trafford, while Skelmersdale United continued their push with a 5-2 win over Ossett Albion.
Of the other play-offs contenders, AFC Fylde came from behind to beat Woodley Sports at Kellamurgh Park.
Outsiders Warrington Town and Witton Albion, who ended a sequence of four successive draws, remain in contention following wins against Durham City and Mossley respectively.
At the other end of the table, Wakefield eased their relegation fears after scoring six times without replay against Prescot Cables, while fellow strugglers Radcliffe Borough surprised Lancaster City at the Giant Axe.
A late Louis Mayers goal helped Bamber Bridge to beat Salford City.
