ANDY Preece reckons his team’s FA Trophy date with Fleetwood Town is the pick of the third qualifying round clashes.

The Guardian broke the news to the Vics manager on Monday while he was busy preparing for Sunday’s televised FA Cup showdown with Charlton Athletic.

“Wow! That’s great,” he said.

“What a big game for both clubs.

“It’s the tie of the round and obviously a really tough draw for us against one of the strongest home teams in the competition at this stage.”

Vics will travel to the Blue Square North title favourites on Saturday, November 21, kick off 3pm.

It is the first time this season that the Victoria Stadium outfit have been drawn away from home in any knockout tournament.

Preece added: “It had to happen.

“We’ve been pretty fortunate with some of the draws we have had, particularly in the FA Cup, but it’s another massive occasion for us to be involved in.”

The pair had been due to meet in the league last month, but the Fishermen’s FA Cup replay with Blue Square Premier high-fliers Kidderminster Harriers the same night led to a postponement.

No new date has been set.
