Match Pointers
NORTHWICH Victoria aim to do what no other team has managed at the New Manor Ground this season tomorrow; win.
The home team, buoyed by a midweek FA Cup replay success at neighbours Eastwood Town, have yet to lose a league encounter in front of their own fans.
Northwich have no new selection worries ahead of the trip, with only long-term absentees Junior Brown (ankle) and Danny Meadowcroft (leg) ruled out.
Mark Danks, scorer in each of Vics’ past six league and cup matches, leads the attack alongside Jonny Allan and Lee Elam.
Declan Edwards, Jon Newby and Wayne Riley must continue to wait for their chance from the bench.
Skipper Simon Grand remains one caution away from suspension and, with crunch clashes against FC United of Manchester and Fleetwood Town looming, he will not want to step out of line.
Vics’ six successive wins in league and cup matches the run at the end of last season, while victory tomorrow will be their best run of form since Steve Burr’s Conference North title-winners won 15 successive league matches between February and April 2006.
Opponents Ilkeston have lost only once league encounter since the opening day of the season – a single-goal reverse at Hinckley United – in a run that has taken them to eighth in the standings.
Veteran front man Gary Ricketts starts a five-matches ban tomorrow, Saturday, following his second dismissal of the season in last week’s first FA Cup encounter with Eastwood. David Graham stands by to partner top scorer Amari Morgan-Smith in attack.
