IT was derby day delight for Winsford United as they recovered to hammer neighbours Barnton.
It was the Villagers who took an early lead at Barton Stadium through Joe Levey, but that was as good as it got for them as the hosts stormed back to claim a 5-1 victory.
A four-goal burst in 16 minutes before half time had the game all but won, with Kallum Boyle equalising before Matty Birchall, Elliot Coleman and Oliver Pope netted.
Reece Davies then rounded off the scoring late on to allow Blues to stay on the heels of North West Counties League First Division South leaders Stafford Town – they sit a place and two points behind the table-toppers while Barnton slip to 13th.
Meanwhile, Witton Albion have slipped into the Northern Premier League West Division relegation zone.
A fifth defeat in six games on Saturday afternoon – a 3-0 reverse at Stalybridge Celtic – sees them finish the weekend the wrong side of the dotted line.
Jack Irlam’s sixth-minute opener gave the Celts the lead, with Lewis Rawsthorn and Max Leonard then adding to Albion’s misery.
In the Midland Football League Premier Division, 1874 Northwich survived a fightback from visitors Tividale to win 3-2 at Townfield Lane.
Chris Herbert’s side stormed into a 3-0 lead inside half an hour as debutant Eden Bailey, Joel Jones and Josh Oultram hit the net.
The visitors fought back and reduced the deficit to one midway through the second half, but Greens were able to hold on.
Elsewhere, joint-managers Lee Duckworth and Luke Goddard’s first league game in charge of Northwich Victoria did not go to plan as they were hammered 4-0 at OJM Black Country.
