MOTORCYCLE racer David Carson and his family team have decided to retire from one element of the sport.
This means the 44-year-old rider for The TwoDavesRacing.com team, based in Wincham, is bowing out of championship racing on a high note.
They have just completed their most successful season to date.
"After winning 20 championships over the past 30 years, and having achieved more than we ever thought possible in the motorcycle racing world, we have decided to retire from championship competition,” said Carson.
“We will still make some ‘wildcard’ appearances at tracks around the UK but will no longer be competing in any full championship seasons.”
He added: “The entire Two Daves Racing team have an embedded passion for motorcycle racing.
“We want to embrace this and make our time at the tracks as fun as possible - as well as being able to focus more clearly on improving our riding.
“It has become clear that ‘trying to capture points’ is getting in the way of ‘trying to go as fast as possible’ - so we are removing that burden.”
2024 has been a very busy year for the Carsons, competing in eight championship classes across three different organisations.
Final 2024 championship results: Aintree '750cc Twins' champions, Aintree '700cc Supertwins' champions, Darley Moor '700cc Twins' champions, Darley Moor 'Darley Cup' champions, Wirral 100 'Pre-2011 Supersport' - second in championship, Wirral 100 '820cc Twins' - third in championship, Darley Moor 'Open 600' - third in championship, Aintree 'Supersport 600' - sixth in championship.
Career honours, 20 championships and 35 ‘end of year’ trophies from six different organisations: 25 from Darley Moor (13 championships and 12 runner-up), three from NG Road Racing (two championships and one third-place), three from Wirral 100 (one championship, one second-place and one third-place), two from Aintree, one from Auto 66, one from Junior Roadracing Association.
