NORTHWICH Victoria will aim to appoint a new manager next week.
Applications for the vacant position close tonight, Wednesday, and the interview process is expected to start on Friday.
Senior players Matty Clarke and Joe Camozzi will be in charge for training tonight and Saturday’s home game against Stourport Swifts at Barton Stadium in Winsford.
This all follows the resignations of manager Matt Barnes and his assistant Chris Broad on Sunday, 24 hours after The Trickies conceded three goals in the opening 14 minutes before going on to lose 3-1 at Romulus in the Midland Football League Premier Division.
The pair had been in the roles for only eight months.
Ex-Prestwich Heys boss Barnes took over the helm after Steve Pickup resigned in March.
After the team’s strong finish to the 2023-24 campaign, Barnes and Broad were appointed for this season but 18 matches later they have left the club.
In all, Vics played 31 competitive games under Barnes, winning 13, drawing seven and losing 11.
