CHESHIRE Gymnastics have welcomed home their hero coach who won a medal for her country at the weekend.
Tumbler Alisha Evanson represented Great Britain in the Loulé Cup International in Portugal, which saw 600 of the world’s best gymnasts compete in the disciplines of trampoline and tumbling.
Evanson, a coach at Cheshire Gymnastics, achieved a senior individual bronze up against competitors from 19 countries in a discipline which involves acrobatic handsprings down a 25-metre long sprung track in front of judges who look for the perfect landing.

It was second time around for the 22-year-old, who came away with an individual bronze and a team silver in the competition last year.
Evanson was one of 71 senior, junior, and youth gymnasts from Great Britain who took to the floor over four days of competition in the Algarve.
Another 35 medals were won by her teammates, highlighting the strength of the GB gymnasts across the disciplines.
Evanson continues to go from strength to strength and was ranked fifth at the World Age Group Championships in the 17-21 age category last year.
Talented Evanson, who is coached by Mark Hudson, also has a degree in fashion design from the University of Chester and likes to design leotards when she has time away from her training schedule.
She says it is an honour to represent her country and she hopes to be selected for the senior world championship team in 2025.
A post on the Cheshire Gymnastics Facebook page reads: “What a day for Alisha Evanson and Mark Hudson her personal coach.
“We are so proud after all the years of hard work - so thoroughly deserved!”
