WINSFORD United maintained their winning groove last night.
They progressed to the second round of the Macron Cup with a 2-0 home success against Sandbach United, extending their winning sequence to three matches.
Callum Chapman marked his full debut with the opening goal in the 48th minute and the game was wrapped up with Blake Robinson adding the second in the 61st minute, sandwiching Sandbach’s Jordan Stafford being sent off for a rash challenge.
Northwich Victoria were also in action last night, securing a 3-2 victory at Wolverhampton Casuals in the Midland League Premier Division.
Mackenzie Faulkner put Vics in front after 10 minutes and an own goal gave them their second strike early in the second half but bottom-side Casuals equalised each time until Sam Unwin’s 84th-minute matchwinner.
Vics move up to seventh on the ladder.
1874 Northwich's clash with Whitchurch Alport in the Midland League was postponed due to a waterlogged Townfield pitch.
Neither Vics or Witton Albion have matches this Saturday, but 1874 Northwich host Studley, Winsford entertain Allscott Heath and Barnton head to Market Drayton Town before visiting Runcorn Town in the first round of the Edward Case Cup on Monday.
Witton will have Hednesford as their guests in Northern Premier League West on Tuesday, when Winsford will welcome Foley Meir to Barton Stadium in their Edward Case opening tie.
