Mike Talbot-Butler looks back at how the 50th Cheshire County Cricket League season ended…

GRAPPENHALL and Toft lost their places in the Premier Division, while former champions Oulton Park were relegated from Division One to their lowest-ever placing and will face the Little Budworth club next summer.

Mobberley lost their Division Two membership and were replaced by Christleton as Division Three runners-up.

Davenham scraped through for the 2025 season in Division One by a solitary point.

In second XI cricket, Warrington, Oakmere and Davenham lost placings  in their respective divisions, each being relegated.

Oxton won the  first XI T20  trophy, while Chester Boughton Hall accomplished that in Division Two and Didsbury in Division Three.

Thrillingly, Nantwich finished one point clear of runnerse-up Hyde (386 points to 385) to regain the first XI Premiership title.

Brooklands and Lindow were worthy respective winners of  League Division One, Maritime of Division  Two and Upton of the Third Division.

The Cheshire Cup Final, delayed by the weather, was played between the County League’s  Hyde and Didsbury, with the latter winning by one wicket in the final over.

Norfolk beat Cheshire in a tight finish to the National Counties’ Knockout Cup Final.

The league’s 2025 anniversary season  – launched 1975 -  is due to get under way in mid-April and will feature special events and  an all-star celebration dinner.
