DANNY Kerr is in the running for a prestigious individual award.
The long-serving Winsford United midfielder has had a successful year representing the Royal Navy Football Association senior men’s team and is now shortlisted for the Royal Navy Sportsman of the Year honour.
As skipper, the 36-year-old led the Royal Navy to becoming Inter Services champions for the first time since 2016.
That was achieved with 2-1 victories over The Army and RAF.
Also, the Chief Petty Officer helped his team to lift the Portsmouth Divisional Senior Cup during 2024.
His side have already been confirmed as winners of the Royal Navy Sports Team of the Year.
Kerr, who scored Winsford’s match-winning goal in the 1-0 success at Shawbury United on Saturday, has also previously featured as captain of the UK Armed Forces Football team – most recently last December.
He has been invited to Lord’s Cricket Ground in London for a glittering awards ceremony at which the successful 2024 Royal Navy team, sportsman, sportswoman, young sports person and official will be formally announced and presented by a senior dignitary.
