Stuart Greenhalgh brings us the latest news from the crown green bowling scene…
WHARTON Cons A had a terrific home win against Kingswood BC in the Mid Cheshire Crown Green Bowling League.
Wharton registered their first full house of the season, winning all 10 games, in a 210-100 success which cemented the Winsford side in second place in the premier.
Castle Sports A had another good result when they welcomed Frodsham Red Lion A.
Both teams had been in the top four all season, but Castle had nine winners out of 10, completing a commanding win of 204-131.
This keeps Castle on top of the premier with Frodsham in seventh place with a game in hand.
Crewe Post Office A had their second full house of the season when beating Alsager Institute 210-117, keeping Crewe in touch with the teams above them.
With the Mid Cheshire league near to the halfway point Kingswood, Alsager and Middlewich need a much better second half of the season to avoid relegation.
In Section One, Shavington remain top after a 201-137 home win against Sandbach Park A.
Rudheath Bowls B are in second place after a good win at home to third place Meadowbank.
Owley Wood B are in 10th place but with a game in hand over all the teams above, so a good score when they play their 10th match could see them rocket up to second place.
In section Two, Victoria remain unbeaten after nine games. In their latest outing they visited Winsford Cons where both sides won five games each, but Victoria won the match 170-153.
In Section Three, Crowton and Owleywood C hold the top two spots but sitting down in eighth place Barnton CC C could take top spot with a good score when they play their game in hand.
Comberbach C, in Section Four, are the only other unbeaten team in all five sections.
They played at home to Castle Sports E and won the match 195-173.
Tarporley B and Castle Sports E are second and third in the section.

Thirty-two Mid Cheshire bowlers made their way to Meadowbank on Sunday to compete in the Challenge Cup.
The Mid Cheshire Challenge Cup is open to all players that play in sections two, three and four of the Mid Cheshire League.
The final was a 21-20 thriller between Stephen Field (Barnton CC A) and Jamie Hulse (Wharton Rec).
Both bowlers had played well all day, and this continued into the final but in the end, it was Field who just pipped Hulse to take the prize.
