OULTON Park were victorious for the first time in 2024 on Saturday.
They edged out Stockport Georgians in a high-scoring encounter in Cheshire County Cricket League Division One, chasing down a victory target of 249 for a three-wicket victory.
Adrian Lascu’s quickfire 80 from just 66 balls led the way, with Nick Ball (38) and Danny Leech (37) providing valuable support.
Andy Dufty claimed three wickets with the ball for the men from Little Budworth, with Lascu and Ball taking two each.
Meanwhile, Davenham slipped to their first defeat of the Division One season on Saturday.
Despite Henry Bensch taking four wickets to go with two each for Muhammad Abid and Regan Johnson, the visitors found themselves chasing a large total of 255 for victory against Brooklands and they never really got close.
They were dismissed for 160 in reply to slip to a 94-run loss, with Sam Hunt (40) the leading scorer as only four batsmen reached double figures.
In Division Three, Winnington Park edged a closely-fought game at Barrow as they won by 11 runs.
Park set their hosts a victory target of 156 in the first innings, with Travis Scholes top-scoring with 27 before he and Jonny Wales both took four wickets with the ball as Barrow were dismissed for 144 in reply.
Oakmere recorded an impressive, 108-run victory at Runcorn after a superb century from James Hodkinson (108) helped them to a first-innings total of 213 all out.
To cap a superb all-round performance, Hodkinson then claimed three wickets as the hosts were bowled out for 105 in reply, with Matthew Holland and Matthew Howard also claiming a trio of scalps each.
In the Cheshire Cricket League, Middlewich got their campaign off to a belated but successful start as Kieran Boyle’s half-century led them to a three-wicket win at Langley.
Kallam Boyle had earlier taken 4-28 as the visitors were set a target of 166 for victory.
Weaverham were beaten by 15 runs at Woodford having been bowled out for 120 in pursuit of 135 for victory – Elliot Wright was their star man all-round having taken four wickets with the ball before top-scoring with the bat by hitting 31.
Barnton lost by five wickets to Wilmslow having posted 211-7 batting first, with Faran Akhtar (63) and Brijesh Batra (47) the leading scorers. Matty Perks then took two wickets with the ball.
