VALE Royal Athletics Club’s Holly Smith made her mark in two indoor track distance races in New York, while another runner has broken a club record.
Smith, competing for Iona College, was at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, winning the 3000m on Friday and placing second in the 5000m the following day.
She clocked 9:51.96 and 16:51.00 respectively in races which took place at the New Balance Track and Field Center at The Armory.
On Sunday, several Vale Royal athletes raced the Trafford 10k.
Arun Dight ran an amazing 29:30 personal best for the distance, finishing 11th and smashing Vale Royal's club record previously held by Chris Perry.
On the day, Perry was Vale Royal’s next finisher in 30:29 followed by Aaron Doyle who improved his own personal best to 30:47.
Stuart Doyle was third vet 50 in 34:38 and Anna Begbie fifth vet 40 in 39:46.
Also on Sunday, Simon Lumsden was competing at the Chippenham 10 miler, coming home in just over the hour in 12th place with 60:42.
Closer to home, Charlie Weaver was second in the Running GP 16 miler around Oulton Park, clocking 1:37.21, while Sam Thomson ran 1:24 in the half marathon there.
