CHESHIRE Gymnastics member Alisha Evanson has put herself firmly in contention for a spot in the Great Britain senior team.
She did so following a superb performance at the recent World Age Group Championships in Birmingham after establishing herself as the highest-ranked Brit in her age group.
The 21-year-old tumbler, who trains at the Moss Farm-based club, is ranked fifth in the world following her display, which saw her qualify at the head of a 36-strong field before gaining a fifth-place finish in the final.
Now she is on track to hit the senior pathway, however, she knows she will have to go to another level again in 2024 but thanked coach Mark Hudson for his belief in her.
“This whole experience has given me so much confidence,” she said.
“I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had this year – representing my country is a dream come true, my coach Mark for believing in me and all the GB team for their support.
“I’m looking forward to progressing into 2024 and feeling really focussed on what I want to achieve next.
“The senior arena is really tough, so I’ll be training harder than ever.”
