ALFIE Gallagher’s sporting achievements continue to go from strength to strength.
Whether it is freestyle wrestling, mixed martial arts, submission grappling or Brazilian jiu-jitsu, the 16-year-old from Wincham, Northwich, is making his mark.
Such is his dedication, he trains almost every day and is enjoying the fruits of his labour.
In his most recent event, Gallagher was crowned the UK under 17s 80kg freestyle wrestling champion in Middlesbrough.
He added the crown to the English and British Freestyle wrestling championships he had already won this year.
The former Rudheath Senior Academy student has also caught the eye as a member of the junior Great Britain squad and has attended competitions and training camps in Estonia, Finland and Italy this year, with another to follow in Germany later this month.
That is not the only international pathway he is on.
Gallagher, who trains at several gyms in Manchester as well as Cheshire Sambo – with sambo being a Russian style of wrestling - is also an English MMA squad member and recently placed silver in the Four Nations Championships in Wales for England.
While his aim is to eventually represent his country in UFC, he has also won several other submission grappling competitions during 2023 and already has achieved his blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
