ALEX Lerczak was a winner in both of this year’s Winsford Tennis Club competitions.
He defeated Anson Chan 4-2 in the final of the singles competition and then won the doubles alongside Jackie Penn, defeating Steve Harris and Moses Okogun 7-6 6-2 in the decider.
Lerczak, 30, from Winsford, is a serial winner, having triumphed in both events many times since learning to play at the club in his teens.
He is a big fan of tennis superstar Andy Murray and his game is similar - back court scramblers!
This year’s singles event featured 10 players split into two groups, with the top two in each group playing in the semi-finals.
Matches were short form, four games per match until the final.
Lerczak’s opponent in the decider, Chan, an 18-year-old university student, is new to the club and is considered a real prospect for the future.
The doubles competition featured four pairings and each pair played each other pair over a full set, until the final.
Lerczak’s partner Penn had won the women's singles in the past and has been a member of Winsford Tennis Club for around 10 years.
They have both played match tennis for Winsford in the past.
Lerczak wanted to play in the top divisions, so he plays team tennis at Hartford Tennis Club now.
Penn plays at Delamere, near to where she lives, with Winsford not having enough female members wanting to play team tennis at the moment.
They also play mixed doubles together at Hartford.
This year the club decided to play their club competitions as one-day tournaments and it was considered to work well, creating two competitive days.
