NORTHWICH golf clubs will have teams competing for county crowns next weekend.
West Cheshire League winners will face East Cheshire League winners for various titles at Hazel Grove GC on Sunday and Monday, October 8 and 9.
Sandiway will go head to head with the hosts in the Business Ladies Final.
Vale Royal Abbey will square up with Davenport in the A team showdown, while Sandiway will meet Tytherington in the B team decider.
Sandiway recently led the way in the Cheshire County Ladies Golf Association Doris Chambers Cup, affectionately known as the Dotty Potty, held at Delamere Forest Golf Club.
Top pairs from across Cheshire enjoyed some lovely weather and a magnificent course as they played the qualifying to qualify for the match-play rounds.
Reaching the semi-finals were Karen Cox and Hazel Sexton (Sandiway), who played Jane Pickup and Alison Coggan (Astbury), Maria Bailey and Jan Cowan (Bramall Park) and Debbie Finch and Alison Blackwell (The Mere Resort).
Cox and Sexton went through to the afternoon’s final with a 5/4 success and were joined by Finch and Blackwell, who won 6/5.
In a close final, Sandiway emerged as the proud winners by 3/2.
The day was also memorable for Sandiway for other reasons.
The new Cheshire captain and seniors captain for 2025 were announced and they were Denise Burchell and Jane Burke, both from Sandiway!
Also on the final day, the Foursomes Stableford took place for pairs beaten in the earlier rounds and home players Jess Turner and Janet Pomfret led in with 37 from Wad Grayson and Grace Stockton (Ringway) 34 and Dot Edwards and Sue Morrant (Sandiway) and Lesley Rhind and Margaret Cann (Astbury), both 33.
