WITH the Cheshire County Cricket League season ending this Saturday, all four divisional championships and most relegation spots have yet to be resolved, writes Mike Talbot-Butler.
The main honours in Mid-Cheshire are likely to go to Division Two leaders Davenham who go into their final game against runners-up Marple. Davenham won by nine wickets to send Christleton down, together with Ashton on Mersey.
In the Premier League, Alderley Edge ended a magnificent chase to win at Widnes, replying with 262-7 to their visitors’ 261-7. Table-toppers Alderley go to Grappenhall in their last game.
Didsbury, who won at Oxton, are certain to finish second. Brooklands and Cheadle or Grappenhall will go down.
Two of Bowdon, Timperley and Sale, who all won on Saturday, will be promoted from Division One. Two of Congleton and Alvanley or Urmston will go down.
In Division Three, two of Maritime, Hawk Green and Ashley will be promoted.
Beaten at home by Upton, Northwich lie bottom of the table after a trouncing at home by Upton, with either Barrow or Warrington also likely to lose their place.
Northwich, however, could escape if they win at neighbours Winnington Park in the final fixture.
