DAVENHAM went top of the Cheshire County Cricket League’s Division Two table with a smart five wickets home win over Hale Barns on Saturday.
They dismissed Barns for 110, Reece Johnson taking 5-13, then replied with a comfy 111-5, with Regan Johnson cracking a key 41.
This leaves Davenham four points clear of Marple, who lost at Haslington, with four games left to play.
In Division One, Oulton Park scraped a one-wicket win at Stockport Georgians, who totalled 207-8, Max Butler 3-40. Martyn East hit 54 and Nick Ball, 50, after tea as Park closed on 208-9.
Mobberley did well to beat Cheadle Hulme by 51 runs in Division Two, Sohaib Butt enjoying a return of 6-44 as Hulme were dismissed for 71.
In Division Three, Wirral-based Maritime beat Ashley and moved 46 points clear of Hawk Green, who won by three wickets at Winnington Park - who mustered 151-9, with Matt Gore 40.
There was a heavy defeat for Northwich – all out for 44 at home to Kingsley, with Ben Stoddart taking a best of the day return of 7-27. Oakmere were all out for 97 at Upton, whose Dan Seaton hit 101.
Up in the Premier Division, leaders Didsbury lost by four wickets at home to Chester Boughton Hall, for whom Noah Vickery hit 74 not out.
Going top by 24 points, Alderley Edge won by 54 runs in a high-scoring game at home to Nantwich, which produced 463 runs.
Arav Shelty scored 87 in Grappenhall’s 105-run win at home to Oxton, while Toft outclassed Oxton by 124 runs, with Jimmy Lomas scoring a key 51 at number nine.
