ANDY Hamman eased to his second Cheshire Merit in three years on Saturday at Shavington BC.
Andy received a bye in the first round then won both his second and third round games to single figures to set up a semi-final clash with his Castle Sports teammate Neal Ocego, which he won 21-12.
In the final, Andy came up against Ryan Sandham and controlled the game throughout to take the title with a 21-6 victory.
Andy now goes forward to the British Crown Green All England finals to be head at Heaton Park, Manchester on Saturday, July 29th.
The Mid Cheshire Ladies County team recorded their second victory of the 2023 season on Sunday when they defeated Cumbria by 446-387.
In the home leg at Norley BC, the team recorded eight winners to win by 51 shots. Dot Barker, Alisha Marshall and Stacey Linegar all had convincing single figure victories.
The away team also won their game by eight shots, with Joan Nicholas having the best result 21-7.
Mid Cheshire’s Littler Cup final was held on Sunday at Kingswood BC, where Comberbach B received a 57-shot start against Crewe Post Office and looked on course to take the title after the first four games.
Dennis Leather came off the green with a 21-16 winning card at Game One and although Crewe won the other three games in the first four, Comberbach still led by 44 shots. Cal Thurlwell won Game Five to extend this lead to 52 shots with five games remaining.
However, the Crewe team then turned the screw and won the next five games to single figures to take the trophy by a winning margin of 27 shots.
The fourth qualifying night of the Castle Classic was held on Saturday and Warrington provided both players that progressed to the finals day in John Brown and Alan Manuel. The competition continues on Saturday evening starting at 6pm.
The last 16 games of Cheshire’s Norman Cup will be contested on Saturday. Mid Cheshire teams in the draw include Moulton RBL, who face local rivals Barnton CC at Cuddington BC.
Rudheath Sports travel to Warrington to take on Sale Excel at Grange No1 green where they will be joined by Comberbach BC, who play Lever Club on Grange No 2.
Davenham Rec play Poynton Sports at the Church Inn, Mobberley and Winnington Park come up against Heswall RBL at Pavilions in Runcorn.
