GYMNASTICS:
EDIE Coyle became the north west national grade one champion in women’s artistic gymnastics at Robin Park in Wigan on Sunday.
As a result, the County High School Leftwich Year 8 student has made it through to the National Team Final at Stoke in May.
For Edie, 13, a member of Warrington Gymnastics Club, Sunday’s achievement came in the final and highest national grade.
Her score of 61.350 also gained the highest grade of distinction.
She came first on bars and beam, second on floor, fourth on vault as well as range and conditioning.
The top five go through to the final, so Edie will be joined there by another Northwich gymnast – Weaverham High School’s Hattie Hartley, a member of the Urban School of Gymnastics in Warrington, who placed second.
TENNIS:
WINSFORD Tennis Club are on the lookout for more league players.
The men’s side won their first summer match of the new season 6-2 at home against Cuddington, with Chris Mayoh, Mark Abbiss, Steven McCormack and Ste Harris making up the team.
However, the club have lost the services of several league players for this season and need to increase their numbers.
