WINSFORD Tennis Club's 50th anniversary summer season is up and running.
Club nights are now scheduled for Wednesday nights, league teams will soon be in action on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and there will be internal competitions played.
Chiefs at the club, which is located alongside the Knight's Grange Sports Complex, are eager to point out that the facility is for all - any age, any ability, social or competitive, with non-members able to use the courts as well as members.
For any potential newcomers, club nights from 5.30pm on Wednesdays would be a good starting point. Anyone is welcome to go down to join in with a practice and meet members as well as those who keep the club ticking over.
The league action starts on April 18 and as the season unfolds there will be silverware up for grabs in the likes of the annual Club Cup singles and doubles tournaments, the Rob Haywood Trophy (which is a doubles competition), and an internal 'singles ladder' that any member can join.
Social tennis sessions are available throughout the week for those who are interested.
The club has four all-weather hard courts, a pavilion that is used as a clubhouse, and toilet facilities. Members' courts were resurfaced in March 2022.
Membership runs from April to the end of March each year.
There is also a pay-and-play scheme available for non-members. Courts can be booked for £8.50 per hour per court.
Private coaching lessons are available with club coach Alex King.
More details are available on the club's website clubspark.lta.org.uk/winsfordltc or via Chris Mayoh on 07731 072921.
Membership prices for 2023/24: Adult £80, adult (aged over 65) £70, student/unemployed £50,
junior (aged 10 and under) £25, junior (aged 11-16) £40, family (2 adults and up to 3 juniors, plus £5 for each additional child): £160. Note, for those who live more than 15 miles away from the club, their membership price will be £10 cheaper.
