IT’S double delight for County High School’s under 14s netball team.
Having become the cream of the crop in Cheshire, the girls from the Leftwich school went on to earn the right to represent the north as a whole following a superb run of results.
An excellent fightback saw them beat King’s Chester 10-9 having been 6-4 down to become county champions – the second time they had beaten their opponents in the tournament after earlier winning 10-7.
The county matches also included victories over Lymm High School (10-8), King’s Macclesfield (12-4) and Helsby High School (9-4) before a semi-final victory over Wilmslow High.
The team then competed in the Sister and Sport National Netball Shield, beating Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic School 72-3, Lady Manners 32-15 and St Hilda’s CoFE 40-17 to set up a quarter-final trip to Shrewsbury School.
They overcame that challenge by winning 46-25 before emerging victorious against Woodhouse School (39-27) in a semi-final played at Middlewich High School.
That result meant they faced Churches College – the winners of the competition’s southern section – at Malvern College in Worcestershire but sadly, they came up short as Churches ran out winners.
Squad: Charlotte Owers, Elise Cann, Amelia Henson, Jess McMullen, Sophie Beardwood, Caitlin Campbell, Ellie Whittaker, Freya Wright, Lauren Jones, Amelie Evans, Naimh Campy
