WINNINGTON Park had their chances to emerge from Saturday’s clash with neighbours Oakmere victorious.
However, they eventually fell to a 70-run defeat at Overdale Lane despite having reduced their hosts to 7-2 early on.
However, a 68-run partnership between James Norton (60 not out) and Ciaran McDonnell (51) helped them recover to 162-8 from their 40 overs.
Danny Westwood was the pick of the Park bowlers with 3-38 off his 10 overs.
Openers Sam Barnes and Arran Deakin got the reply off to a promising start, but the latter’s dismissal sparked a steady collapse.
Barnes was the only player to reach double figures as he scored 53, but Park were bowled out for 92 as Oakmere’s Matthew Holland claimed a five-wicket haul.
