FIVE days, three games, three wins.
Witton Albion boss Carl Macauley could not have asked for much more from his squad over the past week as they continue to build towards the new season.
Cammell Laird 1907 and Runcorn Linnets were beaten on Thursday and Saturday respectively while the return of Albion fans to Wincham Park on Bank Holiday Monday saw them witness a 3-0 win over Prescot Cables for their side.
It took Witton just 27 minutes to give their supporters a goal to celebrate – summer recruit Scott Bakkor heading home Danny McKenna’s cross before James Foley scored a penalty and Tom Owens wrapped up the scoring.
Bakkor was integral to the second goal shortly afterwards as he was hauled down inside the penalty area, with the resulting spot kick dispatched by James Foley.
Tom Owens, who had earlier hit the post, wrapped up the scoring after the break with a delightful curling effort.

Two days previous, James Hooper and Billy Smart were on the scoresheet in the 2-0 win in Runcorn – a game in which assistant boss Gary Martindale took charge of the team.
Both goals came in the second half, with Hooper turning and firing beyond the keeper less than a minute after the restart before Smart slid home a rebound from Hooper’s saved effort two minutes from time.

Thursday’s trip to Cammell Laird was initially meant to be played last Tuesday before being put back due to bad weather and Albion emerged 2-1 victors, with Foley and Hooper both scoring penalties either side of half time.
It means things are building nicely ahead of Albion’s Northern Premier League Premier Division campaign, which will kick off with a home game against Whitby Town on Saturday, September 19.
