Barnton v Bredbury St Mark’s (from 1pm)

Barnton’s defeat to Lymm last weekend was their fifth in the past six Cheshire League matches, leaving them looking over their shoulder at rivals giving chase.

A gap to the Division One drop zone is 12 points at the start of tomorrow’s game against Bredbury St Mark’s, opponents one place – and six points – better off.

Simon Hancock’s side have won only three of their 14 games to date, and they need to improve at the crease to kick-start their campaign.

Winnington Park (home to Ashley, from 1pm)

Defeats in their past two matches, against Poynton and Maritime, have dealt a blow to Winnington Park’s hopes of closing a gap to the teams ahead of them in a race to be promoted to the Cheshire League’s top-flight.

With eight games left, there remains plenty of point up for grabs.

However Alec Butcher’s men have fewer margins for error.

They will be conscious too that they were well-beaten by Ashley, tomorrow’s guests, in the return game back in May.

And what about…

Oakmere (home to Poynton, from 1pm)

Craig Phelan’s men suffered a first defeat of the season last weekend when they lost by one wicket at Stretton.

They had won 12 of their previous 13 fixtures in Cheshire League Division Two this season, and can still boast of a 44-point lead over second-placed Chelford.

However they will be motivated to prove that last week’s result was a blip, and in turn discourage their pursuers for first place.
