1874 NORTHWICH have accepted a charge relating to the behaviour of a supporter after a game at Runcorn Town last month, Cheshire FA has confirmed.
Referee Steve Rudd referred in his report to an incident involving a spectator when he left the pitch along with the other match officials following the visitors’ 3-2 win in a North West Counties League Premier Division encounter on August 26.
The club has asked to attend a hearing, which could take place next week.
A spokesman for the county governing body told the Guardian that 1874 Northwich had been charged with misconduct under FA Rule E20, which covers the actions of those watching a fixture.
“The club have provided a response and we’re still going through our standard procedures for a disciplinary case,” he added.
1874 players Ryan Mitchell and Paul Connor were both sent off at Pavilions, while six of their teammates were cautioned.
Two of the hosts’ players were shown a yellow card.
“Clearly this is a very serious charge,” said 1874 Northwich chairman Paul Stockton.
“We’ll say during the hearing what we have done about the incident and what steps we’ve taken to make sure it doesn’t happen again in the future."
