Car park charges are not in the plans for Baron’s Quay, but redevelopment bosses are making no promises.
Because much of the Baron’s Quay development will be built on existing car parks, new spaces have been included on the plans – on the roof of the proposed supermarket.
Almost 1,200 parking spaces will be created with paths leading shoppers towards the town centre before reaching the supermarket doors.
Geoff Hope-Terry, chairman of the Weaver Valley Partnership, said: “The proposal is to keep car parking free but on a managed basis so that people can’t park and leave their car there forever.
“That’s a proposal, not a promise.”
