I’ve been weighing up the pros and cons of the AV voting system and I think that as long as it won’t cost a fortune to introduce, why not give it a go?
Whoever you vote for, the ‘government’ always get in anyway.
Sometimes the world is blessed with a genuine MP like Mo Mowlam and sometimes we are lumbered with the Hazel Blears or Nick Clegg’s of this world.
If AV proves to be worse, then revert back to First Past the Post.
I like change. Change is good.
I read the anti-AV propaganda, and it was very convincing but as with all propaganda, is it based on fact?
In theory I think AV is more democratic. On the other hand, if Australia and Papua New Guinea get rid of it, we will be the only ones - along with Fiji - to have it!
I think what swayed me the most was that Nick Griffin, leader of the laughable BNP is against it. Whatever he is against, I am definitely for!
Ditto: man of the people Dave Cameron.
Politics aside, this past week was still half term so I decided I might as well have this week off too.
So I have enjoyed time with my child instead. Utterly selfish I know. Boo and Hiss.
If I was a paid employee, I should be entitled to time off so I figure I should have an occasional break as a voluntary worker. It is also too difficult to pay for childcare out of benefits. I have done it for important courses or meetings, but it is very hard on us when I do.
I have signed myself up to a new initiative for single parents offering ‘work trials’. I still don’t know the gen on this yet, so if the DWP will not provide childcare in the summer holidays, I will have to just plug on applying for jobs whilst volunteering.
I fear that I will waste months on a placement that is only short-term free labour for the employer when I could have been looking for a real job. It isn’t like I am idle, is it? I work harder now than when I had a full-time job.
I’m not complaining. I love to be in the thick of things!
