CHILDREN at a community nursery have been getting green-fingered thanks to a new garden.
Youngsters at Sunrise Nursery in Wharton were given a say in what they wanted the £18,000 garden to look like.
The new facility features a beach for sand and water play, a stage for children’s performances, a secure pond with a friendly catfish, and a new climbing frame and slide.
Claire Jackson, who manages the registered charity nursery, said: “Our main focus was to include every child and make each of them feel secure and happy, the children told us that they wanted water like the sea and a sand pit big enough to get in.”
The nursery forms part of the purpose built Wharton Children's Centre, and is open weekdays from 8am to 6pm for children aged three months to five years.
