POLICE tackling anti-social behaviour in a Weaverham park are warning troublemakers that they are the subject of a crackdown.
Members of the Weaverham neighbourhood policing team have received reports about anti-social behaviour and graffiti in the play area in Russet Road.
Patrols have been increased around the park and on the road in general, especially in the evenings and over the weekends.
One youth has already been summonsed to appear in court.
PCSO Karen Nixon said: “Residents have complained about this area and we are working with them and local schools and community groups to help tackle the problem.
“Patrols have increased and we are encouraging anyone who has experienced problems to come forward to us, especially if they know who the offenders are.
“Recording incidents will help build up evidence against any offenders, so I would encourage residents to keep reporting things to us, even if it is just for information.”
PCSOs have delivered leaflets in the area to reassure residents about the actions being taken and to encourage them to continue reporting incidents.
There will also be two drop-in surgeries in Weaverham next month for residents to discuss these or any other issues in the community.
The first meeting will be held at Weaverham Community Centre in Russet Road tomorrow from 7pm to 8pm.
The second surgery will be at the Abundant Grace Church, Forster Avenue, on Thursday, November 12, from 10am until 11am.
Residents who attend can meet members of their neighbourhood policing team, offer suggestions on local policing or discuss any issues in the community that concern them.
PCSO Nixon said: “We take incidents of anti-social behaviour seriously and will deal with anyone caught causing trouble in Weaverham.”
