EXETER four-piece The Computers make a hectic hardcore pop racket that nods its greasy collective quiff at Elvis Costello and Rocket From The Crypt.

They come to The Box in Crewe on Friday November 13 after smashing up Leeds and Reading and earning much kudos from the music press.

National music magazine Rock Sound said: "Rock 'n' roll soaked blues with hardcore punk attitude is the name of the game, punching out 50s fuelled riffery and scream along gang vocals with an intensity that would make Chuck Berry roll in his grave.

"This band are a dead cert for greatness."

They have already recorded two sessions for BBC Radio 1 at Maida Vale studios and the band released its debut mini-album You Can't Hide From The Computers in November on Fierce Panda records.

They say: “We wanna fuse rock n roll music with hardcore.

“This stems from a deep love for bands such as black flag, minor threat, the germs, the nerve agents aswell as The Clash, Chuck Berry and anti rock n roll such as Elvis Costello and the Attractions.

“We're gonna party like it's 1999 - even if it's not!”

The mini-album was produced by Hundred Reasons' sonic maestro Larry Hibbitt and features a whole barrelload of guitar-thrashing chaos falling over the edge of a cliff.

The Computers’ brand of fiery and furiously executed rock music defies trends, as it sits out of time with movements and genres.

Opener on the release Teenage Tourettes Camp sets an attention-stealing tone, all screamed vocals and the sort of finger-bleeding guitar workouts that made Gallows such a buzz act.

What The Computers have over their Watford peers is a better ear for melody, for instant-hit addiction.

Support comes from burgeoning Stoke talents Skinny Pigs, Tomorrow's Yesterday and Corporation One.

Tickets are £6 and available from www.theboxcrewe.co.uk. Doors are from 8pm.
