CHESHIRE Police have signed a new 'information sharing' agreement with Crewe and Nantwich housing provider Wulvern.
The deal will ensure that information regarding criminal behaviour is shared, helping the fight against anti-social behaviour in the area.
The agreement details circumstances in which Wulvern will help police investigations by providing details of residents in their properties, and reports of anti-social or criminal behaviour. Likewise the police will provide Wulvern with details of criminal convictions, cautions or intelligence regarding current and prospective tenants. This will help Wulvern in assessing an applicant’s suitability for housing, and building evidence for court cases.
Matthew Cox, Wulvern’s anti-social behaviour co-ordinator, said: “Wulvern has always worked closely with the police.
"We believe sharing this information is essential in our fight against anti-social behaviour and this new agreement will make our partnership even more effective. "Wulvern tenants who get into trouble with the police can now also expect a knock at the door from us."
Wulvern is at the forefront of the fight against anti-social behaviour in Crewe and Nantwich, with a team of eight fully trained officers. In the last 12 months they have dealt with more than 150 complaints. Information provided by the police has formed key evidence in several legal cases resulting in court orders against nuisance neighbours.
