A FUNDRAISING musical evening in Nantwich has generated hundreds of pounds for charity.
The Rotary Club of Nantwich organised the event, which featured local singers Gemma Roberts and Michelle Burns and professional musician Tony Hughes on piano.
The event raised £750 for Lifebox, which is an emergency response box scheme that helps people rebuild their lives after a disaster.
Rotarian Rod Stokes said: “A packed hall at the Crown Hotel enjoyed the latin, jazz and swing programme, which included many songs by composers such as Cole Porter and George Gershwin.
"At the end of the evening, club president Philip Taylor presented bouquets to the singers and wine to the accompanist, thanking them for giving up their time to entertain everyone.”
LifeBox has been established for 35 years and more than 26,000 boxes have been despatched to people in over 30 countries.
It is a low cost but effective method of providing aid and comfort quickly to those displaced by natural and other disasters.
Mr Stokes added: “The £750 raised will enable the club to purchase three LifeBoxes. "We are delighted with the great success of the concert and the money raised for LifeBox, which is an incredibly worthy cause.”
