UNBLEMISHED records have been maintained by darts and dominoes teams in the Cumberland Arms Crewe Open League this week.

Darts sides Pioneers Club, White Lion Ford Lane and Nags Head, as well as dominoes outfit Old Oddfellows, are still leading the way.

Premier Division darts leaders Pioneers Club easily disposed of Queens Park Golf Club 6-2 to move seven points ahead of Delamere Arms, who were 5-3 winners at promoted Cosey Club.

Third-placed Cheshire Cheese beat hosts Flying Lady A 5-3 but are well off the pace.

Top arrows came from Ken Cliffe (Vine A) with a 14-dart leg, while the in-form Andrew Pitt (White Lion B) hit 17 and 18 darters to beat Shaun Wilkinson (LMR B), who hit a 19 darter.

Pi’s duo John Cooper and John Speed as well as Chris Townsend (LMR B) hit 17 darters, while ‘Cobra’ Cooper and Townsend included 180s in theirs.

Cosey Club pair Carl Dennel and Dave Wood hit 18 darters, with Carl also on the mark with a 180, while teammate Jules Wilde threw a 19 darter.

Rob Arrowsmith (Delamere) won with two 20-dart legs, Clive Lucking (Golf Club) hit a 110 checkout and Mick Lewis (Lady A) a 180.

Premier Division dominoes’ lead changed with Horse Shoe now two points ahead of Vine A after beating them 6-2.

Third placed Lady A beat Cheshire Cheese 6-2 to head a quintet of teams covered by a single point.

Division One darts pacemakers Commercial walloped visitors Rockwood 7-1 to go seven points clear of Hop Pole, 5-3 victors over promoted Foresters.

Third placed Bridge A fall four points off the pace after their 5-3 home defeat to Nantwich Road ASLEF left the pair level on points.

Malc Griffin (Amalgamated A) included a 180 in a 15-dart leg, as did Andy Cooke (Commercial) in his 19-darter.

Cliff Davison (ASLEF) and Rob Challinor (Express) hit 17 and 20 darters and John Tomkinson (ASLEF), Dave Arrowsmith (Hop Pole), Steve Mellor (Lion B) and Damian Weaver (Hop Pole) respective 115, 114, 104 and ton finishes. Ray Thelwell (ASLEF) hit a 180.

Division One dominoes now has triple joint leaders in Bridge A, Foresters and Woodside after their wins over ASLEF, Hop Pole and Amalgamated A, with deposed leaders ASLEF demoted to fourth. Two points cover the top six teams.

Division Two darts toppers White Lion Ford Lane beat nearest rivals Kings Arms B 5-3 to go eight points clear.

Raven A, Hawk, Bridge C and Coppenhall Leighton are one point behind Kings B, separated on matches won.

Steve Butler (Hawk) hit a 17-darter, Paul Woodcock (Raven A) an 18-darter and Melvyn Roberts (White Lion) a 19-dart leg and a 180. Tom Kelly (Raven A) and Dave Morris (Coppenhall Leighton) also hit maximum 180s.

Division Two dominoes top-four teams were involved in the section’s three drawn matches, so leaders Amalgamated B, who performed remarkably well with a depleted team, remain a point ahead of Kings Arms A.

The Division Three darts top two, now separated by a single point, are promoted teams Broughton Arms and Imperial, who move well clear of their challengers after big wins at the Crown and over Cumberland B.

Third placed Cumberland C beat Captain Webb A 5-3 but are now six points off the pace.

Flying Lady B ended their sequence of five draws by losing 5-3 at Lion A. Rob Crawford (Crown) hit a 180.

Division Three dominoes has new leaders in West End Band Club, despite only drawing with visitors Liberal Club.

Deposed leaders Cumberland B are a point back in second after they were beaten 5-3 at Imperial, who consequently move up to a challenging third spot.

Division Four darts leaders Rileys Club forfeited their 100 per cent record when visitors Coach and Horses won both pairs games to snatch a draw.

Second placed Coppenhall Club committed the same error when visitors Vine C forced a draw, allowing third placed Raven B, 5-3 winners at the Junction, to close in.

Shaun Whitfield (Raven B) won in 17 darts and Paul Tomkinson (Coppenhall Club) succeeded with a 112 checkout.

Tony Wilcox (White Lion A) completed his team’s whitewash at Vine B with a 112 checkout.

Division Four dominoes is now headed by Amalgamated Nomads, who demoted hosts Captain Webb B to third by beating them 6-2.

Raven B moved up to second after completing a double 5-3 win at Junction.

The Division Five darts top two met, with Nags Head’s 6-2 win over Dishers opening up a six points gap and the losers being demoted to third.

Cumberland A’s 6-2 win over Prince of Wales moved them up to second.

Division Five dominoes is still headed by Brunel B despite only drawing with Cumberland D.

Old Oddfellows took over second spot after making if five from five with a 5-3 defeat of Brunel A and they have a match in hand. Nags Head were demoted to third after a scrambled draw with Dishers.

Meanwhile, the league are organising a dominoes pairs knockout at the Liberal Club on November 22 at noon.

Entry fee is £4 per pair with an anticipated £400 in prize money on offer. Entry forms should be submited as per instructions by November 17.
