HALLOWE'EN is a time for mischief-makers so Cheshire West and Chester Council and Cheshire Police are joining forces insisting ‘trick or treaters’ to respect their neighbours and community.
The Council’s Community Safety Team has emailed a guidelines to all schools in the borough urging families to have fun without causing distress to vulnerable members of the community, in particular the elderly.
Clr Lynn Riley said: “It is important for children to have fun but causing criminal damage will get you in trouble with the police.”
The information is available on cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk as well as a poster for shop owners to put in their windows warning they will not sell eggs and flour to suspicious youngsters.
Insp Rob Woodward of Cheshire Police, said: “I would strongly encourage parents and guardians to be proactive and know where their kids are going and what they intend to do – even better, go along and supervise them.”
