FORMER pupils and their parents returned to Weaverham High School on Thursday to celebrate success all round.
The school’s annual presentation evening marked this year’s GCSE achievements but also gave head teacher David Charlton chance to praise all aspects of school life.
In his address to the school he spoke of a year which saw three quarters of pupils achieve five or more A* to C grades for the second year running, with more than 60 per cent achieving these top grades in English and mathematics.
He praised the work of the music department, including the success of band Angel Range, who performed at Leeds Festival after winning a national competition.
He also congratulated the drama department for its production of Fame and the sporting teams and individuals who triumphed throughout the school year.
He closed his speech with this advice to his former students: “As you go out into life and into the world you will impress the people you meet, but remember not only your GCSE results but what else you have learned here at Weaverham High School – our values and the importance of community.
“For as you become the leaders of tomorrow and progress to great things, in our eyes and in our memories you will always be a member of Weaverham High School.”
