AN enterprising student at South Cheshire College is keeping his future career hanging in the balance.
Martyn McDermott balances his time studying at college with helping out at the family business MPM Scales in his spare time.
The 16-year-old, who is studying full-time on an entry level business course, helps out by typing up calibration sheets and filing important paperwork at the Sandbach firm.
MPM Scales was formed by Martyn’s dad over 20 years ago and is a precision balance weighers business.
Martyn, who lives in Sandbach, said: “I really enjoy working in the office and hope to work for the family business full time when I finish at college.”
Entry Level programmes are for students with learning difficulties or disabilities and give them the chance to learn key life skills through fun activities.
Tutor Jonathan White said: “Martyn is a hard working student and the experience he is getting working for the family business is helping him with the business and administration side of his course.”
